Isaiah 55:2 Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. The number one problem of mankind throughout time is that we don’t listen to the Lord. In Isaiah 55, the prophet, inspired by God, exhorts the people to listen, listen. While these words were originally meant for the exiles leaving Babylon they are just as relevant and applicable to people today.
If people will listen to God, they will eat what is good, delight in the richest fare and buy wine and milk without cost (Isaiah 55:1). In other words they will be spiritually nourished. Isaiah 55:3 Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. To give ear means to pay attention; if people will pay attention to God’s Word and come to Him they will live, they will have life to the full (John 10:10). But one must listen, listen to God and His perfect Word.
Isaiah 55:12-13 gives us four things that will happen when people “give ear” and listen to God’s Word. There will be joy, peace, beauty, and God will be glorified. This week’s sermon will focus on these 4 great things that happen when God speaks and we listen.
Praying everyone has a blessed week.
