This week in our auditorium Bible Study we will begin to wrap up our study on 1 Corinthians as we begin chapter 16. 1 Corinthians 16 can be divided into four sections: verses 1-4; 5-11; 12-18; and 19-24. Over the next four Sunday’s we will look at each of these sections and we will wrap up our study on 1 Corinthians on Sunday November 26. Beginning Sunday, December 3 I will begin teaching a young adult class (18-29) called “Got Questions?” either in the back or one of the downstairs classrooms. Someone else or others will take over the auditorium class on Sunday mornings for a while. I will continue teaching the auditorium class on Wednesday evenings as we begin a new study on the miracles of Jesus beginning this Wednesday.
This week we resume our sermon series from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) as we move into the next section (Matthew 5:21-48) where Jesus looks at six topics and repeatedly uses the phrases “you have heard… but I tell you…). This week we focus on Matthew 5:21-26 and what Jesus says about anger and reconciliation. Here are some questions to ponder in your own personal Bible study this week.
- Jesus describes two scenarios in Matthew 5:23-26. What are these scenarios? In each one, who is the angry party? And again, in each scenario, upon whom does Jesus lay the responsibility to act and repair the relationship?
Take some time as you find the time to dig into these questions and this passage from Matthew as you seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Praying everyone has a blessed week,
In Christ,
Gary T.
