Matthew 22:23That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question.
On the same day that the Pharisees and Herodians had failed to trap Jesus with a question on paying taxes, the Sadducees smugly stepped in to try and trip him up with a question concerning the resurrection. The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection because the Pentateuch (Genesis-Deuteronomy) has no direct teaching on it. The Pharisees had never been able to come up with a convincing argument from the Pentateuch for the resurrection, and the Sadducees thought they had trapped Jesus for sure. But Jesus was about to show them otherwise.
This Wednesday in our continuing study on Jesus’ confrontations with the Pharisees, we switch gears and look at this confrontation with the Sadducees from Matthew 22:23-33. Looking forward to being back with our church family this week!
In Christ,
