1 Corinthians 11:18 In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
In 1 Corinthians chapters 11-14 Paul, inspired by God, addresses problems pertaining to the assembly, when the Corinthians come together. These include disputes about attire in worship (11:2-16), abuses of the Lord’s Supper (17-34), and abuses of spiritual gifts (12-14). Is it any wonder that Paul, inspired by God, placed the chapter on biblical love right in the middle of all this, in chapter 13? These issues were causing division among the brethren in Corinth and Paul, inspired by God, was seeking to promote unity in the Body of Christ.
This Sunday morning in the auditorium class, we will review 1 Timothy 2:12-14 then dive into 1 Corinthians 14:26-40. We will look at the specific issues Paul was addressing and its relevance to us. My prayer is that we will all grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ as we reason through the Scriptures together.
In Christ,
Gary T.
