Samson

Posted on February 13, 2020 by admin

Judges 13:5 You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”

The life of Samson says a lot about strength, and even more about weakness. In spite of the fantastic feats that God accomplished through Samson, he allowed his character flaws to rule his life. Samson did not take his calling seriously. Called to be different, he frequently chose to participate in ungodly acts. Ultimately, his downfall came through his inability to maintain the boundaries God had set for him. Samson didn’t control his desires, his desires controlled him. 2 Peter 2:19 says that “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”

Samson could have chosen to be obedient and therefore a slave to righteousness but instead he chose to be a slave to sin which ultimately led to his early demise. Samson paid dearly for his lack of regard for God’s calling in his life and his unwillingness to tame his desires.

This Sunday we will look at Samson’s life and what we can learn from it.

Praying everyone has a blessed week,

In Christ,

Gary T.
