Matthew 28:6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.
Jesus had told his disciples in John 10:17-18 that he had the choice to lay down his life and the authority to take it up again. When Jesus gave up his Spirit (John 19:30) he laid down a perfect, sinless life that completely fulfilled the Law. He then became the perfect sacrifice (He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. Hebrews 7:27) and conquered the Law of Moses. Early on the first day of the week Jesus took up his life again and walked out of that tomb and when he did he conquered death and he conquered it for all who might come to Him.
Romans 8:1-2 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Knowing this should empower the Christian to live boldly and confidently for the Lord. This week’s lesson will look at the core of the gospel message; the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The lesson will be live-streamed on our face-book page beginning at 12:30 and an audio version will be uploaded to our website Sunday afternoon.
Praying everyone has a safe and happy Easter.
Take care and God Bless,
Gary T.
