Last week we talked about endeavoring to persevere. The first century church was all about perseverance and that stemmed from a cooperative spirit. Without a group of other Christians to sharpen and challenge on a consistent basis, the individual is prone to drift. The Book of Acts paints a portrait of the early church and provides certain characteristics of authentic Christian community. A Christian who is not attached to an authentic community of other believers will become uninspired, ineffective, and unable to persevere through the tough times.
Acts 4:32-37 teaches three common denominators to authentic Christian community. 1) There was unity of heart and mind. 2) There was an intense responsibility for the family of believers. 3) There was great power when proclaiming the gospel. We will be looking at these three things in our Sunday lesson this week. The audio will be available this Sunday morning (9/20) by 10:00 AM.
Praying everyone is staying safe, sane and healthy,
In Christ,
Gary T.
