Isaiah 35:3-4 Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; 4 say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”
God, through Isaiah, told the people of Judah to not fear. God would come, He would rescue Jerusalem from the immediate threat of the Assyrians but God wanted the people to look beyond the immediate, to look beyond the physical. He wants us to do the same thing. With the coming of Jesus, God came in the flesh and He came with vengeance. He brought divine retribution, He saved us. He fulfilled the law, He overcame sin, and He overcame death. He gave us the victory (1 Corinthians 15:57). Therefore we must “Be strong” we must not live in fear. God has already delivered us through Jesus Christ, what can man do to you? God does deliver His people from physical enemies but the greatest enemy He has delivered us from is sin and death.
This Wednesday’s lesson will focus on Isaiah 34-35. The audio will be available under Wednesday Bible Study sometime Wednesday afternoon.
