Last week we looked at the uniqueness of Jesus as described for us in the Book of Hebrews. One of the verses we looked at and talked about was Hebrews 3:1, which states Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. The NASB, KJ, and 1599 Geneva, all translate Hebrews 3:1 by saying that we need to “consider Jesus”. The NLT says we need to “think carefully about this Jesus”. As we close out what has to be one of the strangest years of my 48 on this earth and as we head into a new year in just a few days, we need to fix our thoughts on Jesus, we need to consider Jesus; we need to “think carefully about this Jesus”. Over the next few weeks we are going to “consider Jesus”: His attributes, how He treated others, and how He dealt with conflict. But we are going to start this morning by taking a look at Jesus from John’s perspective, as recorded for us in Revelation 1.
