I Kings 11:1-2 King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharoah’s daughter–Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.
Although Solomon had clear instructions from God not to marry foreign women (Deut 7:3), he chose to disregard God’s commands (nevertheless v.2). When people ignore God’s commands, negative consequences inevitably result. It is not enough to know God’s Word or even to believe it, we must follow it wholeheartedly and apply it to our daily activities and decisions. Solomon should have taken God’s commands seriously and so should we.
This Sunday, we will take a closer look at King Solomon, the wisest man in the world, who chose not to apply that wisdom in the right ways. Look forward to seeing everyone!
