New Year’s resolutions are kind of a joke; most of those resolutions are broken before the end of January. There’s another kind of resolution you’re more likely to keep. You make a bad mistake, and you say, “Man, I won’t do that again.” You hurt a friend, and you say, “I’m sorry, I’ll never do that again.” The mistakes made you feel bad, and you decided not to make them again. Nehemiah 10:28-39 lists some resolutions the people of Judah made because of past mistakes.
They resolved to honor God in their relationships (Nehemiah 10:30). They committed to honor God with their time (Nehemiah 10:31). And they made it a priority to honor God with their resources (Nehemiah 10:32-39). Our relationship with God must go far beyond church attendance and regular devotions. It should affect our relationships, our time, and our material resources. As we approach another New Year let us renew our commitment to honor God in these three areas. Praying everyone has a safe and happy New Year!
In Christ,
