Happy 4th of July and upcoming lessons

Posted on July 3, 2020 by admin

This weekend our nation celebrates its 244th birthday. Despite all her issues, the United States of America still stands as the greatest country on the face of the earth. How blessed we are to live in a land where we can freely assemble to worship and study God’s Word together. Let us pray fervently that this will continue to be the case for years to come.

Exodus 20:7 (NKJ) You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

The third commandment is certainly against common swearing and speaking the Lord’s name in vain. However, it also includes the light or disrespectful use of any of God’s attributes or character traits. More directly than any other, the third commandment teaches how much God is to be a part of our every word, deed, and attitude. This Sunday in our continuing study on the Ten Commandments we will take a closer look at the third command as found in Exodus 20:7.

This Wednesday we will begin a study on the book of Isaiah. The prophet Isaiah was a giant of Hebrew history. He was the Shakespeare of Hebrew literature, and the New Testament quotes him more often than all the other Old Testament prophets combined. No other Biblical author can match his rich vocabulary and use of imagery. This Wednesday’s class will be a general overview of the book and we will dive into it in more detail the following week.

As always Sunday’s sermon and Wednesday’s Bible Study will be available to listen to on our website. There will also be an outline of Sundays sermon posted here by noon on Sunday. Praying everyone is staying safe and healthy.

In Christ,

Gary T.
