God wants Christians to assume their responsibilities. Through the apostle Paul, He encouraged the Thessalonians to work and mind their own business (1 Thess. 4:11-12). He told the Thessalonian church not to support lazy members who refused to work (2 Thess. 3:10). He insisted that children and grandchildren take care of the widows in their families (1 Tim. 5:4). And He suggested that younger widows remarry and start new families (1 Tim.5:14). In other words, he wanted them to assume their responsibilities.
This Sunday morning, we will take a closer look at these three passages from the New Testament.
