Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the last weeks of Jesus’ earthly ministry, His death, His resurrection, and the days between the resurrection and the ascension. Today we will focus on Jesus’ words as recorded for us in John 12:44-50. John 12:44-50 represents Jesus’ final notice to the Judeans who had not believed in Him. It is the last public statement Jesus makes prior to His crucifixion. We don’t know when He spoke these words and there is nothing here that He has not already said. His words serve as a review of some of the key truths that John’s Gospel has emphasized to this point. But these are His last words to unbelieving Israel before He was crucified. The next five chapters are spoken privately to His disciples. He gives four reasons why we should believe in Him.
