In the Book of Proverbs (NIV) the exact phrase “the fear of the Lord” appears 10 times. This is great advice from our heavenly father. The “fear of the Lord” is a good motto for life. It is a preamble for wise living. Reverence for the Lord has an ingredient of fear, although it is far more than an abject cringing before some arbitrary an unfriendly power. Godly living means more than going through life as a scared person. Wise living does not remove fear entirely. It consists of fearing the right things. We fear many things: losing a job, getting sick, being dependent in our old age, war, failure, death, the list of things the world would have us fear is endless. Perhaps if a person feared God more, he would fear everything else less. This Sunday, we will take a trip through the book of Proverbs and examine “the fear of the Lord” more carefully.
Looking forward to seeing everyone this Sunday!
In Christ,
