The book of Acts is filled with progress reports on the growth of the early church. In Acts 6:1-7 we see the early church growing rapidly. Acts 6 opens with the words “In those days when the number of disciples was increasing…” But with growth came some issues. The remainder of Acts 6:1 says that the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. The NLT translates verse 1 by saying that But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent.
Do we still have “rumblings of discontent” in churches today? You better believe we do. Acts 6:1-7 is filled with many valuable lessons the 21st century church can take to heart. This Sunday we will focus on this passage of Scripture, dig into it, and see just a few of the lessons we can take from it that will help the Lord’s church today.
Praying everyone has a blessed week,
In Christ,
