Last week in our lesson on Elijah from 1 Kings 19, we saw a man who was spiritually exhausted and said “I have had enough”. It’s easy for us to feel this way too, the burdens of this world, the burden of guilt from past mistakes, the burden of worrying about things we wish we could control but can’t. When we start feeling overwhelmed with these feelings and feel like we have “had enough” we need to listen to Jesus’ words from Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all you are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
In this passage, Jesus teaches us three things we must do in order to find true peace, or “rest”. Yet for some odd reason, we sometimes find these things difficult to do. This Sunday, we will look closer at these three things we need to do in order to find true peace. Praying everyone has a great week.
In Christ,
