Psalm 37

Posted on February 7, 2021 by admin

Psalm 37:25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. Is life unfair? Psalm 37 ponders that perplexing question. Its basic conclusion: The success of the wicked won’t last, while in the long run people who do right will flourish.

The psalmist, who many believe to be King David, adds this observation, based on experience: Through a lifetime of troubles and anxieties, he has yet to see the righteous abandoned by God and unable to provide the basics of life for their children. These are some very encouraging words for Christians today.

This Sunday’s lesson will focus on Psalm 37 and specifically how it encourages us to “delight in the Lord” rather than fret when the evil in this world seems to succeed. Praying everyone has a blessed week.

In Christ,

Gary T.
