In Mark 12:28 Jesus was approached by one of the teachers of the law who asked Him the following question: “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Mark 12:29-31 records Jesus’ answer: “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” In Matthew 5:9 Jesus said Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Peter, inspired by God, writing to first century Christians said in 1 Peter 3:11 They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.
When we love God and neighbor we will seek peace; Christianity is all about pursuing peace. The word “peace” is used 62 times in the epistles alone of the NIV translation and as God tells us through Peter, Christians must seek peace and pursue it. This Sunday we will look at 5 tactics we can deploy to pursue peace.
Praying everyone has a blessed week,
In Christ,
