We recently began a study on the book of Jude in our Wednesday evening class. One of the main themes of this short book is contending for the faith (Jude 3). One way we do that is by how we live our lives and this would include how we use our words. The uncontrolled tongue can do terrible damage. An uncontrolled tongue will divide people and pit them against one another. Idle and hateful words are damaging because they spread destruction quickly. The book of James, chapter 3, compares the damage a tongue can do to a raging fire. Scripture gives special attention to words and how they are used so this Sunday we will look at “taming the tongue”.
