1 Thessalonians 1:13 (NIV) We believe that Jesus died and rose again. And because of what Jesus did, God will bring back with him those who have died.
Just as the heart pumps life giving blood to every part of the body, so the resurrection is the life-giving blood to our souls. The resurrection often seems to be ignored in discussions concerning Jesus. Often the focus is on the life of Jesus. Certainly, the death of Jesus is proclaimed, especially when we partake of the Lord’s Supper every Sunday. But we must consider the great importance of the resurrection. The resurrection is the heart of the gospel. When the apostle Paul preached, he declared that he was on trial for his “hope in the resurrection of the dead” (Acts 23:6). The resurrection central to the Christian faith.
In our Wednesday Night Bible Study we have been looking at each of the four gospel accounts of the resurrection accounts and the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus. Beginning this Wednesday we will begin looking at two more important passages concerning the resurrection: Acts 1:1-11 and 1st Corinthians 15.
