Romans 12:2 tells us we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. But how many times do we show up for worship on Sunday morning with our minds in the wrong place. We think about anything and everything except what we ought to be thinking about and that is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Satan seeks to distract us from what is truly important and often times the battle is waged in the mind. Its important that when Christians come together as a body that we get our minds in the right place. This week we are going to change things up a little bit and move the sermon to just prior to the Lord’s Supper. The lesson will focus on the Suffering Servant as described in Isaiah 53:4-6 (NIV):
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
We will look at each of these verses, taking a closer look at some of the words used to describe the suffering servant and what He endured for our sake. The goal is to get our minds in the right place before partaking of the emblems representing the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
