Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
At the time the Apostle Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians, it is believed by most commentators that he was imprisoned in Rome. Yet the tone of Philippians is one of hope. The words joy and rejoice are used 11 times in the NIV translation. And as Paul closes his letter he tells his audience to focus on the positive, “think about such things”.
The wrong thoughts lead to the wrong attitudes, and these in turn lead to the wrong actions. The person who allows his or her thoughts to be negative pollutes their own life and the lives of those around them. In Philippians 4:8; the apostle Paul, inspired by God, sums up his letter to the Philippians by encouraging them to capture the content of their thoughts by thinking about the positive.
